On the Silver Couch : Mihalis Filinis
Mihalis Filinis, yoga and meditation instructor
As a yoga and meditation teacher what can be the "first aid" when feelings of anger anxiety and aggression arise?
The answer to every dark impulse is the pause, the self-observation, conscious breathing. Releasing the tension with 24 extended breaths several times this mutates to humor.
The yoga sessions can replace the effectiveness of (expensive) sessions of psychoanalysis?
Yoga is complementary to psychoanalysis as it enhances self-awareness and releases tension. Yoga mobilizes self-healing mechanisms at many levels of existence.

How chic lifestyle can sustain in difficult times?
Chic is not about money; it's an attitude. I think some of the most innately elegant and stylish people I have encountered in my travels have been among the most materially impoverished; like women in rural villages in Uttar Pradesh. So chic is invincible

Does the New York art scene still offer the idea of the "American Dream"?
Did it ever?
Has the internet change how we experience art?
It has certainly changed the way people buy art. But I don't believe reproductions on the Internet supply any real experience of any art except the Internet-based kind.

On the Silver Couch : Kassiani Benou
If you were a politician what would be your immediate steps to reduce corruption in the Greek society;
The only solution is to change the entire political system. Utopia? But isn't utopia an early truth;
Do you see light in the tunnel?
Yes I see. Otherwise I would not live.

Is Holland still a heaven for sexual, ethnic or social minorities?
No it isn't really. Most people are really quite liberal, and in politics everybody is very homo-friendly but in the streets it's a different story. We struggle to integrate muslims in our society who seem to have different opinions on homosexuality and who don’t know how important the history of Jewish people has been to Europe.
Kids who claim they are muslim have been hateful towards gay men and gay couples and it has led to people having had to sell their homes because they were being constantly harassed.
Harassment is not very haram, to use this word from the Quran, anyway.
Also, we have had the terrible incident of a refugee from Iran burning himself on Amsterdam’s main square. Asylum procedures are fucked up and people are put away for years in centres where they have nothing to do. They’re not allowed work, and spend their days in complete boredom and they sometimes radicalize as well - from this situation.
So, it’s not very good
Would you get a project from a homophobic client?
They wouldn't choose us anyway, I suppose. But if we knew, we wouldn’t accept it.

Is there an original and risky architectural proposal by younger architects in Greece today?
In 2006, Winy Maas of MVRDV in the exhibition "New trends of architecture» wondered: "Why the architectural movement in Greece is so invisible?"Still seems to be.

What would be your dream project to be built some day?
Exciting buildings, enriched by human experience on Earth. Because nature is breathtaking and the architecture is the compact representation.
