Hateful buildings

Scary..

This building above is the US Navy amphibious base in Coronado. It was built in the early sixties. After almost half of a century they decided to to spend as much as $600,000 for landscaping and architectural modifications to obscure the swastika shape.

Myths of Persepolis

In 1971 it was held the Tahkt-e-Jamshid/Persepolis Festival, which celebrated 2500 years of Iran's history heritage as the World's oldest country. A history of a site that spans from revolutions to greek orgies, from wild architecture to social networking, from top secret intelligence to the biggest and most expensive bashes in the history of the world.

Martin Skauen

I am back from my short-term absence from blogging. Athens has been transformed to an art capital over a week now because of the brand new biennial, so it took me sometime to see almost everything and at the same time working for my "Website Triangle" project. Andreas has made some few picks of things I like too in his blog. Additionally I want to include the work of Norwegian artist Martin Skauen that is showing at the biennial. In his work Skauen comments on the weaknesses of man, and questions the phenomenon of war and ritualistic group behaviour. He usually films his drawings with sound effects suggesting a narrative flow in the action. Check one of his videos here

A website triangle

"A website Triangle" is my next show that opens this Saturday 8th September at the galleries: Blow de la Barra, Rebecca Camhi and Rodeo. I will show 3 websites (one website in each gallery) that are the titles of the three September biennials in .com extension (Athens, Istanbul and Lyon). These are DestroyAthens.com, NotOnlyPossibleButAlsoNecessary.com and TheHistoryOfaDecadeThatHasNotYetBeenName.com. The websites are not related to the biennial themselves but they are an impression I have of the titles along with a feeling for each city. Check them on the 8th either in Metaksourgeio or on the internet. The project is part of the Remap KM

King George Palace site

One of my last projects was to redesign the King George Palace Hotel website. The website has launched few days ago. King George Palace Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the heart of Athens and there is a "royal" feeling throughout it's interior. Check this here.
