Andreas is buying land on Second Life

If you are bored with your life and you want to start a new one, there is a place . It can be acquired here http://secondlife.com

I have just registered my second life and Andreas is already buying land with the plan to build our new house. Because money talks even here, you can buy everything, from land clothes, cars, to new body parts and gestures (!). We have already neighbours (Miltos and Priscilla) Our new address will be announced soon and we will celebrate it with a house-warming party.

Beautiful things or people have always nice names. This time a band with the name PANICO (you never forget this name) has made nice music! The band from Chile is releasing in the UK, their post-punk new cd "Subliminal Kill"

A cute show: Jacob Ciocci at Foxy Production

I went to this new location of Chelsea galleries. One of the show I liked is Jacob Ciocci's at Foxy Production. A member of artist collective Paper Rad, Ciocci did for this show a large cube which contains a boy’s bedroom with a shrine made from character toys, three smaller video cubes, paintings with video elements, and drawings.
Another nice show is of the Belgian artist Michel Francois at the new gallery of Bortolami Dayian.

The museum experience

The weather in NYC yesterday was fantastic so it was ideal to walk around Central Park and visit the museums. I firstly visited Whitney. I was not so fascinated of it's shows. The only thing I remember was the Ed Ruscha paintings and the unparallel wall. Then I went to the MET. This museum is always beyond my expectations. I always discover and rediscover things in there. I mean for the permanent collections. Regarding the temporary ones, they are great and very inspiring. The "Fra Angelico" show is so angelic, the Robert Rauschenberg show so classic. The MET is one reason to live in NYC. Photo:James Rosenquist painting

Alexandre Herchcovitch: THE fashion designer

Opening Ceremony is my favourite fashion store in NYC. I almost want to buy everything in there. Most of all, the Alexandre Herchcovitch stuff. The Brazilian designer is really a hope for the New York fashion scene the last 2 years. All his collections bring a new poetry to the existing boring american fashion. The coats of the women's line are really art objects. My friend Priscilla bought this one on the photo and basically looks better on her than here.

Contemporary Art Pixels

Miltos Manetas is one of the most important contemporary artists for me. His work describes YOU, a person in front of the computer screen. More than that, it describes our life with machines. One of his latest projects is related with art but it has a more commercial aspect. He is selling pixels on a website only to people who are related with art(artists, galleries, etc). The website is set up and fully functional and it is based on an idea of the The Million Dollar Home Page. I have already bought my "land" there. More on Manetas this week..

Angelidakis show at INMO

The show of Andreas Angelidakis is on at the new INMO gallery downtown Los Angeles. Andreas shows a huge projection of the Blue Wave Hotel animation, plus an animation for a museum, models and drawings. The opening was fun with a diverse crowd. The new space of the gallery is amazing. It is on the ground floor of the Rosslyn Hotel and actually some parts of the gallery are parts of the lobby area. It will be on until the 14th Feb.

The gentrification of downtown LA

I am walking the streets of downtown LA. The area is changing rapidly since the last time I have been here. The homeless people and the gangsters of the corner of Main and 5th streets are standing perplexed around the new galleries.

Ecstasy at the Geffen MOCA

Geffen MOCA is a walking distance from the gallery that Andreas is preparing his show. The current exhibition is called Ecstasy. A show that assumes the signs and materials of drug culture. I liked the show generally and specifically Paul Nobles' drawings (both of them are a-w-e-s-o-m-e), Carsten Holler's mushroom room, Glenn Brown's paintings, Assume Vivid Astro Focus room and the Erwin Redl light installation. Moma and the art of Odilon Redon

I went to MOMA yesterday. I have not visited it after it's rennovation. I really liked the feeling in there but I noticed that when you had finished seeing an exhibition, to continue with the rest of the museum you had to go back and see it over again. I loved the Odilon Redon exhibition. I think I will go back to see it again.

Own a piece of internet history

The Million Dollar Home Page is a website project of a 21 year old student that earned him a $1 million. In short, he set up this website to sell one pixel for 1 dollar to everybody who is interested to display his logo on this page. The student claims that he was desperate to find nmoney to pay for his studies expenses. The projected attracted a lot of media coverage and now the 1,000 pixels left are auctioned on E-BAY.
