Apolis
Apolis is a show that has just finished at the Hellenic-American Union space in Athens . It is curated by artist Kostis Velonis. The theme is about citiless "situations" and exiled artistic practises- which I am very identified with. Among from the works of Nikos Alexiou (upcoming Venice Biennial Greek participation), Andreas Angelidakis, Dimitris Foutris, Alexis Akrithakis, I want to include some drawings of Eleni Kamma which I wanted to write from long time now. Her drawings are inspired by architectural plans, children's books and decorative tapestry composed by baroque structures.

A video from Anathena
Yesterday night I went to Deste Foundation to check the small concert in the lobby area of the foundation. It was part of the Anathena show with Lo-Fi and Fantastikoi Hxoi on the decks. I had the chance finally to take some videos of the show. After Deste we went to 2 magazine parties downtown Athens. One is called Mother and the other is Velvet.

Do you remember "R e m e m b e r "?
I should not stick so much in the eighties but I cannot leave unmentioned about my 2006 fashion store re-discovery. In the Athens of the 80's punks and rock fans used to buy their clothes from Remember. I still remember my mom's nod of disapproval when I bought my first Cure pins in the summer of 1989. Remember still operates in Plaka with the most outstanding leftovers from this era. Almost a year ago I was walking in Plaka and I was very happy to discover that I could find shoes and clothes from the upcoming Dior Homme, Balenciaga, Bernard Wilhelm and Rick Owens catwalks but 20 times cheaper and more original. The hyper-social owner Dimitris Tsouanatos is really the athenian encyclopedia of the 80's so if you still think that Athens sucks on shopping, Remember to visit Remember!

Great Commercials from the 80's
The Commodore Vic20 computer. Was it the first computer I have ever seen?
Joanna Cassidy (Six Feet Under) "scarier" than fire forest.
Brooke Shields advertising Calvin Klein Jeans.
The "new" Zelda videogame
Madonna makes Pepsi in 1989
I was browsing Giant Magazine's great collection of cool 80's commercials and I have made this selection of my favourite 80's ads. Check here the top 50 list

General Idea
Just found this video about General Idea's show at Kunsthalle Zurich. General Idea was a collective of three Canadian artists, Felix Partz, Jorge Zontal and AA Bronson, who were active from 1969 to 1994. Pioneers of conceptual and media-based art in Canada. Both Partz and Zontal died of AIDS in 1994. Bronson continues to work and exhibit as an independent artist, and has placed General Idea's archive at the Library of the National Gallery of Canada. Yuria
Walking around downtown Athens the other day I saw this funny poster at a grocery store. This is an announcement of a the Yuria Festival organised by Vinyl Microstore. Yuria is a name taken by the cute dog Yuri of Vinyl Microstore and it is a music festival that took place at the store with indie musicians all over Athens. Related link here

A celebrity without a face
Mr Ass is the latest cool night-life persona in the Big Apple. He usually wears nothing on the ass area and he usually "hosts" on his tender buttocks the eternal night life New Yorkers, thus Amanda Lepore and Boy George to Chloe Sevigny and Sophia Lamar. All this is documented endlessly in an blog here.
